DSL Setup for
Actiontec GT701 (wireless)
- Open up your web browser (Internet Explorer,
Firefox, Netscape, etc.)
- In the Address bar in the web browser type in 192.168.0.1 (www is not required).
- Hit Enter on your keyboard and the
Actiontec modem configuration interface will appear.
- Select Setup / Configuration
- Now Select [Advanced Setup] in the left hand column.
- Select [Begin Advanced Setup] in the center of the page.
- Select [Wireless Settings] in the left hand column.
- Find Wireless and select [On].
- Find Security and select [WEP] (for Wireless Encryption Protocol Recommended Security).
- Select [NEXT]
- Next to field labeled [Key 1:] leave the default value at
[64 bits].
- You will now be required to create a 64-bit WEP key. Follow the instructions below to create this
key.
REMEMBER TO WRITE THIS DOWN AS YOU WILL NEED IT FOR THE OTHER COMPUTERS
YOU CONNECT TO THE NETWORK.
A 64-BIT WEP key is any 10 digit combination of numbers 0-9 and letters a-f you create.
Here are two examples of 64-bit WEP:
1) 12 34 56 ab cd
2) ab cc de fa bd
Write down your WEP key for future reference when adding other computers to your
network.
- In the box next to [Key 1:] insert
the 64-bit WEP key you created above.
- Select [Save and Restart] in the left hand column.
- On your DSL modem the Green Light should be on for
[wireless].
- Select [Save and Restart] in the center of the page.

DSL Setup for 2Wire 2700HG-D Dynamic Setup
- Start your web browser, such as Internet Explorer or
Firefox. If it attempts to load a page, press the Stop button at the top of the browser window.
- In the Address or Location bar of your web browser, clear any address that may be present then enter http://192.168.0.1 and press [Enter].
- In the browser window the 2Wire main menu should appear. In the middle right of the screen is the Wizards section, in there click on the Advanced Configuration Settings link.
- Select the appropriate Time Zone for your locale.
- The Connection Mode should already be set to PPP Mode with PPPoA as the selected connection type.
- Enter your Avvanta User Name in the Username box. Your Username is the first half of your email address on Avvanta's system. In the Password box, enter the password you selected when you created your Avvanta account.
Leave all other settings and values on this page at their defaults, scroll to the bottom and click on Save.
You are finished configuring the 2Wire 2700HG-D.
Watch the DSL and Internet LEDs as the modem reboots itself. After several seconds, the DSL light should be lit, steady and green followed shortly after by the Internet LED. Once both the DSL and Internet LEDs are lit and steady your 2Wire 2700HG-D is configured, online, and ready for use. If the Internet light flashes Red this indicates that the Username or Password is incorrect. Repeat this configuration process to re-enter your Avvanta Username and Password and try again. If the modem still does not connect, call
Customer Service at 623.434.4232.
